YOMP
The Yomp was first run in 1983 and comes from the Forces name for a long march over open terrain. This hugely popular local event is entirely volunteer led and new for this year there are six races over the weekend with a route for everyone.
The Yomp Mountain challenge is a two-day event celebrating all things running, walking and outdoors. This volunteer run event is entering it’s thirty ninth year and with the help of some great sponsors is offering more events than ever before. The Yomp raises money for good causes and to date well over £100,000 has been donated to a variety of good causes.
Yomp has its own distinct character and is a local legend in the event calendar. It does have its roads and tracks, but they are not the main element, which is the open, exposed fell. Challenge Yourself.....

Run for Charity
The Yomp has a rich history of raising funds for local causes, with 2024 being no different.
All proceeds from the event are donated to local charities so just by taking part you are helping that to make a difference.
In 2023 £3000 was shared between Great North Air Ambulance, Northern Viaduct Trust, and Kirkby Stephen Youth Centre. With more sponsors on board this year we're hoping to smash the fundraising out of the park.
